Work began with the first pick pass in the entirety of the trench, beginning in the south and moving north.  The soil remained a gray, flakey, galestray-like soil with a medium quantity of rocks in the northern half of the trench.  This concentrations of rocks is not significant enough to warrent its own locus.  Pick passing in the nroth half will continue with caution.  The soil was sorted directly into buckets.  Upon completion of the first pick pass the baulk walls were trimmed, keeping the finds seperate from Locus 5 .

Work continued with a second pick pass throughout the whole trench.  The soil remained a flaky, gray, galestra-like appearnce with the addition of a higher conentration of mottled soil in the southern half.  Throughout the whole trench a larger conentration of carbon appears.  The second pick pass in the northern half of the trench continued to hit a conentration of rocks, it was therefore decided to lightly pick pass and trowel in the nrothern half.  The soil continued to be sorted directly into buckets.  A third pick pass was begun in the southern half and mopved to a lighter pick pass in the north.  The soil was a gray, flaky, galestra-like soil with the addition of

a few dark brown clumps of clay revealed in the northern half of the trench.  The soil continued to be sorted directly into buckets.  Closing day elevations were taken.
