Trench Layout

Trench Layout

CA79 was laid out using triangulation. A straight line was made with a tape between two nails previously placed by the site architect, Andrew Carroll, ( 63E, 39S). Using this line two more points were obtained through triangulation. These points were used to create straight lines.

The co-ordinates of CA79 are:

NW 63E, 39S

NE 66E, 39S

SE 66E, 41S

SW 63E, 41S

A known datum point of 27.86m (Absolute Elevation) was established on a tree to the NW of CA 79.

CA 79 was established directly to the south of CA72 and west of CA76. It forms part of a large area of open excavation for the 2013 season, including trenches CA72EXT, CA73EXT, and CA76 to 78.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
