Boxes of Tiles 8

Boxes of Pottery 1

T-17 was extended to the west by a rectangular strip 4m x 9m [N-S] [for diagram see opposite page - for previous excavation in the area see TG II and EN I, p. 120-195 ]. The designation and grid system were adopted from that used in the previous year. The area under consideration was A-J, 4-7. The rectangular strip A-J, 8-9 was left as a check on the previous year*s excavation & and to allow for a profile of the east flank of the trench. All depth measurements will be given relative to the existing ground line [for further clarification see profiles of trenches where applicable]. Should a difference in stratification occur, the various strata will be designated in brackets by letters of the alphabdet [uppermost strata = A] in addition to depth measurements.
