The earth around the tiles in W-62 and V-64 was cleared to completely expose these tiles.  Part of the earth beneath the stump in V-62 was removed to expose the tile in W-62.  The tile in W-62 preserves a width and a finished back edge.  The tile in V-64 preserves a width and a length.  It appears that this tile has an unusually short length.  The measurements:

Tile in w-62: width: 54cm

Tile in V-64: width: 53cm; length: 59.5cm

A cut was made from alpha-71-67 to the north to bring meters alpha-X,71-67 to floor level.  Before this, the topsoil was removed from alpha-X,-67.  Meters X-alpha-71,70 (continued on pg. )

were completely taken to the "floor" which appeared throughout these meters.  Tiles which may be the same as the unfired tiles with footprints in T,U,V-73-71 appeared in the eastern portion of X-71 and were left covered with soil at ~30cm.  The floor appears in X-71,70 at ~40cm but is ~10cm deep in alpha-71,70 due to the slope of the hill to the south.  The soil of this cut was brown with darker soil just above the floor.  Bone and pithos fragments were found.  Meters alpha,Z-67,68,69 were also taken to the floor, as were X,Y-69.  In X/Y-69 a stone column base was encountered at ~30cm.  Meters 67,68-X,Y are at 20cm and contain stumps.  The cut to the floor was not completed here.  Note that the soil just above the floor contained more cabon than usual.

A portion of Z-66, which contains a stump, was taken to "floor"level (~30cm).
