Daily Log

July 8, 1969

Topsoil was taken off at the E half of the trench.  It produced 1 box of tiles.

The second and third layers were taken off.  They produced 3 boxes of tiles, 1/2 box of sherds, 6 rocchetti (no pattern visible), 1 stool leg (# ) and one human face (badly worn and chipped. Lips, cheeks and pointed chin preserved.  Inside rough and slightly curved).

  • Find #2
  • Cup handle, fragment

  • Find #3
  • Seated statue, fragment of stool leg

small pieces of bronze.

Stretches of stones appeared which have to be cleaned further since the pattern is still clear.

Due to heavy rain it was not possible to continue diggin in T8, so more dirt from the dump and topsoil wre removed from the area adjoining T8 to the east.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
