Work began this afternoon on meters 223-225E, 55-57 south, located to the east of the eastern flank of the orientalizing workshop. Brush was cleared and opening elevations were taken in the area

Opening Elevations


Pickaxed through the western half of the trench. Topsoil-Humus layer (Locus 1) is a dark black to dark brown with many roots and rocks, as well as some small to medium pieces of very worn terracotta. In addition some small sherds of pottery have appeared in this layer.

Material Yielded

Locus 1- 1.5 casetta of terracotta

-23 pieces of pottery

-2 pieces of bone
