Worked on bringin down the topsoil across the trench. While doing so, various pockets of white root rot were encountered across the trench. the soil remains dark brown to black, heavilly organic with many roots. Various small rocks are intermingled with the soil. Worked to define the large rocks through the topsoil of Locus 1. More large rocks appeared as the soil was cleared. The trench was swept in preparation for photographs after lunch.
Troweled down the rocks; cleared to the appearnt level fo Locus 2 in the center area of the trench near the depression. While working down in the center of the apparent divit in the trench, a pocket of topsoil/loam was found (and a hole was inadvertently created while working down through this level). It is speculated that this is the prior location of a tree stump or other feature in the soil, and so it will be cleared down at a similar level to the soil around it. A small piece of iron was discovered while troweling down the rocks and made a find (Find 1). Troweled down through Locus 1, in preparation for photographing in the morning.
Locus 1- 4 highly worn fragments of terracotta

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.
The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
