Work continued in grids G-J/23-26 and EF/25-26.

In grids G-J/23-26, earth continued to be removed to a depth of ca. 50 cm:s below (pre-existing) ground surface.

EF/25-26: Loose soil around the hard and distinctive earth-stone pack was removed to make it appear more clearly. For extension of remaining part of it in grids EF/25-26, .

The earth-stone fill then was removed as far as the north-south line of a planned profile in (A)D-J/26-27, where it showed off well in section.  Level reached: ab. [no information given] cm:s below surface ground.

Same grids:

A few more frags of a dolium (mentioned yesterday, p. 23 ).  Otherwise, small amount of pottery, for the most part coarseware.  A few Italo-Corinthian fragments.

G-J/23-26: Yesterday's work proceeded in grids G-J/25-26.  Upper surface of big stones in GH/24-25 now clearly visible; sketch made ( see p. 20 ).  Deposit of smaller stones in J/25-26.

  • Fairly big fragment of segola di copertura; width entirely preserved

Grids G-J/23-26 having been finished down to a level of ab. 45-50 cm below (pre-existing) ground soil surface, another 15 cm of earth qas removed in a new cutting in the same grids, starting from west.  Work in E-F/23-26 suspended until G-J/23-26 are finished down to the level reached by Erik Nielsen in T-17 to the west.  No essential

change of soilc haracter, tile or pottery quantity or quality.  Pottery: small quantity.  Rather much stone (max. length: 10-30 cm) found in G-J/22-23.
