Leaves were cleared from the trench and work began with a pick pass across the northern metre, with another following moving southwards across the trench. Opening elevations this morning were

NW 25.32

NE 25.35

SW 25.21

SE 25.29

Pottery and terracotta are emerging in greater quantity than last week. A second pick pass was then completed across the whole trench, once again working from north to south. Locus 2 is still very much in evidence- it seems to be an erosional wash containing a mixture of ancient and more recent terracotta. In the course of this pass in the south west a piece of medieval pottery was found. (Special Find 1)
