Description Locus 1 was declared across the whole of the trench. Locus 1 is a humus layer with a lot of organic material present. 3 fist sized rocks appear on the surface in the western half, there are a large number of roots from the tree on the southern baulk in this locus. Just below the dark brown humus layer were a large amount of rocks (which were 5-10 cm in length). They were in no discernible formation. The soil is a grayish-brown color speckled with white root rot and pockets of a yellow clay-like soil. Most of the material recovered in this locus was heavily worn, pitted, and small. Only tile and pottery were recovered. This locus was a modern decontextualized layer. Locus 1, 6, 13, and 14 are equivalent.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
