Description Locus 3 lies in approximately the easternmost meter of the trench and was situated just a few centimeters below the Locus 1 topsoil. The soil of Locus 3 is a loose, dark, gray-black soil which was just below the surface. Locus 3, like Loci 1 and 2, contained a mixture of ancient and modern materials, including ancient roofing tile fragments and ceramic sherds. The locus contained a fair amount of ceramics, although these were all either coarse utility vessel or impasto sherds. No bone or metal was recovered from this locus.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
