Description Locus 5 was declared after peeling away the topsoil layer of locus 4 in the eastern extension of CB-49. The soil of locus 5 was a lighter brown and identical to that found in locus 2, as they are stratigraphically equivalent. The soil was also easier to sort due to a reduction in root frequency. Locus 5 produced 1/2 of a latte box of pottery and 1 bowl of terracotta. In addition, 4 special finds were made including a piece of iron slag, a large piece of terracotta (identified initially as a ridge-pole tile, later reclassified as a brick), a cut out akroterion fragment, and a sherd of medieval pottery.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
