Description Locus 11 is equal to Locus 7 but was excavated separately as a sounding in order to better understand the stratigraphy of Locus 5, 11, 12, 7, 15, and 14. The sounding revealed pockets of dense brown clay with a small amount of worn tile and pottery. The stratigraphy revealed that the bedrock in the area was sloping, as well as a line of bedrock which may represent a cut which could be seen in the southwest corner of Locus 11, as well as the potential continuation through VT 14 and VT 12. Locus 11 was not fully excavated.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
